Are you ready to take your business to the next level, but haven’t the time—and possibly the support—needed to effectively and efficiently plan for and manage your growth? SCORE Delaware can help!

Our new workshop series, Simple Steps for Growing Your BusinessTM, will help you shift from start-up mode to growth mode.

Simple Steps for Growing Your BusinessTM was designed by business owners, for business owners. This highly-interactive program provides you with the knowledge, tools and guidance needed to successfully grow your business. Working in partnership with your SCORE mentor, you’ll assess the current state of your business to identify strengths, weaknesses and potential growth opportunities, and utilize the knowledge gained in specialized workshops to create and implement a customized strategy and action plan.

The  SSFGYB is next being offered in Newark during August / September 2014 time frame (tentative) and registration is  open for that course. See the link at the bottom of this web page. Please check back with us to see when the course is available for registration.

 

How It Works

Workshop Series Overview

Workshop 1: Business Assessment and Goal Setting (August 12, 2014)

In this session, you’ll uncover your business’ strengths and weaknesses, and begin to develop a vision and goals for growth. You’ll meet and interact with other program participants, and be provided an overview of the complete program. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to discuss your expectations, and what you hope to gain from the workshops and relationship with your mentor.

Workshop 2: Marketing Your Business (August 19, 2014)

This workshop provides you with marketing communications methods and tools to maximize your custoemr reach and retention. Topics include

  • Identification of your marketing goals
  • Social media & online marketing
  • Public relations & advertising strategies
  • Event marketing
  • Cause marketing
  • Creating “raving fans"

Workshop 3: Growing Your Sales (August 26, 2014)

This session will help you identify strategies for increasing sales, expanding distribution channels and building and motivating your sales team. Additional topics include

  • Benchmarking
  • Evaluating your sales process
  • Expanding distribution
  • Sales & customer relationship management (CRM) tools

 

Workshop 4: Managing Operations (September 9, 2014)

This session is designed to help you learn more about operating your business for profitability. You’ll be introduced to new ways of viewing operational data, so you know the status of the key performance indicators that drive your business’ success. Topics include

  • Operations & company goals
  • Identifying, managing & measuring critical operations
  • Preparing for growth
  • KPIs & dashboards                                     

Workshop 5: Financial Management (September 16, 2014)

This workshop covers working with trusted advisors and using financial statements to manage your business. By the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of financial concepts, which will aid you in making better decisions for your business. Topics include

  • Using and Understanding Financial Ratios
  • Measuring the Companies Financial Health
  • Funding your Business Growth
  • Managing Risks
  • Using Cash Flow Forecasts
  • Working with Trusted Advisors

 

 

Workshop 6: Managing Your Time, People & Resources (September 23, 2014)

This workshop will help you evaluate  your staffing and talent needs, better manage employee performance, and determine whether hiring or outsourcing is the appropriate course of action for achieving your goals. Topics include

  • Hiring Practices
  • Employee Training
  • Development and Motivation
  • Attaining Peak Performance
  • Using Outside Professionals
  • Effective Delegation & Time Management

 

 All series workshops are conducted on the dates shown above at either the   Newark Senior Center or at the Goodwill Store in Middletown. Check the registration page for location of the current workshop. Hours are  from 5:45 PM until 8:45 PM.
